Generator pressure and task timing

Macro play

How to think about progress windows so you stop forcing low-value interactions.

Spread progress across safe tasks, but do not isolate every survivor. Keep one player close enough to heal, ping, stun, or peel when pressure arrives.

If the killer is camping a generator cluster, rotate instead of feeding repeated downs into the same area.

Survival

Knowing when to back out is one of the fastest ways most players improve.

Medic Overheal is best before a dangerous rotation; Security Guard pings should tell the team where to move, not just where the killer was.

Fighter and Technician should spend control tools to secure a rescue, objective finish, or clean reset instead of chasing a low-value stun.

Killer identification and route choice

Patch habits

Simple rules for updating your habits after balance shifts instead of staying on autopilot.

Identify which of the three released killers is in the match as early as possible and communicate it before teammates commit to blind loops.

A route that works against one pressure pattern may fail against another, so preserve an exit and avoid repeating the same corner after the killer has read it.

Rushdown / Trapper

Watch for the axe throw, visible Beartraps, Scream into Charge, and the faster fist state after the axe leaves his hand.

Beartraps can be seen, freed by another survivor, or disarmed with time. Check security-office doors, Warehouse ramps, exits, and tight loop entrances before committing.

When The Rotten throws the axe, expect more speed and a Scream that reveals and disrupts the team before Charge. Break line choice rather than running a long straight lane.

Fighter can Parry Charge and close-range Cleaver attempts; Security Guard can create spacing, while Medic keeps bleed and follow-up pressure from snowballing.

Adaptive killer

Read Strength, Speed, and Stealth modes, then change your route before the mode-specific attack begins.

Strength is the damage mode, Speed closes distance with Leap, and Stealth starts surprise attacks with Drill or Grab. Do not treat all three forms as the same chase.

Drill rumble grows with proximity. Security Guard cannot ping during Drill but can still use camera information; Technician's Static Mirage can still affect it.

Fighter cannot Parry Drill or Speed Leap. On The Forest, drop a barricade early when Speed mode approaches because Leap can clear the open top.

Trickster / Trapper

Expect hidden teammate status, roaming Wire Eyes, a pulling Grab, and survivor disguises after a kill.

Wire Eyes reveal, slow, blind, and bleed their target. Shake the camera to remove one, then create distance before its small explosion.

Use short identity checks before sharing a generator with a returning teammate. Security cameras and aura reads can expose suspicious disguises even when the model looks correct.

Fighter can Parry Grab, but should watch for a deliberate miss used to bait Parry. Avoid isolated generators and battery stations where the puzzle UI hides an approach.
